Offer In Compromise
Settlement Offers For a Fraction of What You Owe
Reduce or Possibly Eliminate Tax Debt
Save $1,000s With an Offer in Compromise

An offer in compromise (Form 656) is a legitimate way to settle your tax debt for less than the amount you owe if you can prove that paying the full amount creates a financial hardship. In some cases our tax negotiation professionals have created resolution plans in which a client owes over $100,000 and we settled with the IRS for less than $1,000. However, these situations are unique and not the norm. The IRS will only approve an offer in compromise "when the amount offered represents the most we can expect to collect within a reasonable period of time" (irs.gov).

It is extremely important to hire qualified professionals when pursuing an offer in compromise because the process is far more complicated than many taxpayers and financial commentators believe it to be. Applicants for the offer in compromise program must prove to the IRS, beyond any reasonable doubt, that they will be incapable of meeting their necessary living expenses after paying the outstanding tax debt through a conventional installment agreement. Qualification factors include:
  • The ability to pay
  • Personal income
  • Future earnings potential
  • Expenses
  • Asset equity
This is where we come in. United Tax Group will submit a financial statement known as Form 433-A, in which you, the taxpayer, discloses your assets, income, and necessary living expenses. Based upon this disclosure statement, the IRS will determine a cost of living. However, it is important to remember that the standards used by the IRS to establish your cost of living are restrictive – what is reasonable to the collector may not seem rational to you. Our tax professionals have the experience to know exactly how to best present your situation.

If you qualify for the offer in compromise program... the professionals at United Tax Group can guarantee that we can help get you a settlement for a fraction of the amount you would otherwise owe. Don't try it alone... You may only get one shot at settling your debt with the IRS. Don't be sorry!
